This is a design choice that makes it easier to maintain large armies in the field.

The real reason that spamming production buildings is meta in the lategame is because at pop cap, units will still train, and then come out instantly once there is free population. So as you can see, train times in aoe4 are not slower compared to other RTS games. In sc2 an (uh.) siege tank takes 32 seconds. In sc2 an (uh.) immortal takes 39 seconds. That being said, at this point it's just a minor annoyance to me Relics: I do agree with you that I wish you could shift queue relics to be placed in monestaries. Luckily, the excellent, fan-made has all the unit stats in a very easy-to-access format, so my enjoyment of the game has not been hurt by this Tech Tree: Yeah, I do wish unit stats were avaible. That being said, I am still greatly enjoying the game, and a lot of your points I do disagree with: Different people like different games, and that's alright. I mean, nothing wrong with you disliking the game. COH 3 seems like a higher priority for relic or something. I haven't heard anything from the AOE 4 team since launch. Not only does it already look better, but the Stormgate team has been completely transparent and has done hours of interviews already. Stormgate looks far more promising already with Unreal engine 4 cinematics, a better readable art style, innovative pathing and better multiplayer game modes.

AOM and AOE 3 are even better games.Īt this point, I give up on trying to play this. Those four games make this look pathetic. Lacks the overall polish that Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2, AOE 2, and even Company of Heroes 2 has. For some reason, AOE 3 is a faster paced game that feels more natural than this. Late game can drag on, early game aggression can start super early though. Game is somehow faster and slower than AOE 2 at the same time. Hardly any innovative concepts except for Neutral markets, stealth forests and a better age up mechanic. The fun mechanics like microing mangonels are gone. Half of the time, I don't have enough space to build. Units train unbelievably slow, so you end up needing 8-10 of one type of production building. You can't click on a relic, then shift click a monastery half the time. I follow AOE4 youtubers and they're all saying the game is in a better state now. When the game came out, I gave it a try, I played for a few months and thought "this is decent at best, not good enough to be a AAA RTS game"
